An original oil painting on canvas by Anne Harkness. Now you know, chairs have conversations. This is an intense one but comfortable and inviting as well. I love it when a title comes together to invoke strong feelings, or something funny, or the start of thoughts that are off and rambling. I love the play of conversations we have with ourselves, the back and forth. Doesn't it lead to loosing the debate and part of me wins…you know what I mean. In "The Conversation", I began with an abstract painting and started to lay in the subject matter, meanwhile leaving some of the abstract to become part of the fabric of the chairs. The unfinished & finished qualities of this piece are interesting to me. I enjoy the back and forth between the abstract and the realistic. The chairs seem to be emerging
