Treasured Past
While driving in Rutherfordton, NC, I happened upon this winding road in part of their downtown. I could see storage buildings all stacked up seemingly one upon another, as they climbed up the hill. Yet, this charming scene intrigued me with it’s unique small town vibe. I photographed it, then started to lay it out in paint. I loved it’s many layers and wanted to get to know it better. But often time doesn’t allow an actual stroll but does allow for an intense observation of what I captured that day in a single photo. This delightful and colorful depiction of a small town in NC, gives me a sence of a treasured past. One I will not forget. This is an original oil painting shown in a diptych by Anne Harkness. Dimensions: 40 x 46 in.
