Your Chair Awaits
A patron wanted a painting of 5 beach chairs in a horizontal row. After borrowing 3 chairs from my neighbor, I added them to our two chairs to photograph every conceivable combination, regardless of the patrons stipulations. All the photographs to be considered were what I called good to great. Prints were made. I painted studies and the patron chose the one that fit her hopes and spatial needs.
But I had some photos I still wanted to paint. Your Chair Awaits is one of them. There are 5 chairs waiting for you to return, or maybe for me and mine. I love the call of the beach. The warmth of the sun, the sound of the surf rhythmically breaking to cause my heartbeat to become regulated and steady. The feel of my feet and toes in the temporary tidal pools and the gentle lapping of the ebb tide, remind me of so many days on the beach as a child. Those days held unending joys, delights and seemingly unending energy. Can you recall your first trip to a beach? Please tell me about what you recall.
