Mom Was right
My niece, Katy, sent me a post by Samandrewsart on Instagram. Sam’s dad gives Sam good advise when Sam said he was depressed.
His dad said, Sam, when was the last time you painted? Painters paint. Writers write. Push past the battle of resistance. You are an artist, this is who you are. Stop futsing around with all these other things. You will be happiest if you are doing what you were made to do; paint. So do it every day.
My mom always cheered me on as an artist. She knew that was who I was supposed to be. She didn’t hound me about it. But she took me with her to watercolor classes. She bought me a little table loom. She wanted what I wove and wanted to see more. She knew and liked my art teacher. She also knew my husband to be was an artist, as well. All through school, she wanted my art successes and framed them and hung them in the hall in our family mini art gallery. She also did the same with my two brothers.
Maybe deep down I knew I was an artist, but I didn’t know how to get it started. I guess God was the one who had to be the starter. He brought it to me after I passed through the lowest most desperate time of my life. I am thankful everyday that I get to paint.
Mom was right.
